Isshinsai Munehira Katana

Munehira of the second generation was called Koyama Soshishi and was the nephew of Koyama Munetsugu.

He became the official blacksmith of the Kano daimyo family from the Kazusa Ichinomiya domain and crafted swords like this longsword for Kuroda Naoyoshi, the lord of Kururi Castle in Kazusa. He also lived in Kuwana in Ise Province and in Edo. He himself was a retainer and samurai.
He died in 1882 at the age of 65.

This is an old koshira with a tsunagi.
The handle features gold dragons bound with brown silk.
The fuchi kashira are in shakudo nanako with silver and gold overlays and depict dragons and a waterfall.
The tsuba is a round sukashi tsuba made of iron.
The saya is black with a dark red mottled texture.
The blade and koshira are in good condition.
The blade has Shirasaya and an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper.
